It began as my life verse and the Lord freshly gave it to me last year as our Homeschool Verse and Vision:
"One thing I ask of the LORD,
that I will seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to inquire in his temple."
that I will seek after:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to inquire in his temple."
First, to seek Him first. Matthew 6:33 says if we seek first His Kingdom and His Righteousness, then "all these things will be added". Those "things" are what we tend to worry about--our clothes, food, shelter. So I know if I am seeking Him first, that I can trust Him to always to provide no matter what our circumstances.
Moreover, in our homeschooling, we will seek Him first...His wisdom, His ways, His laws. We will rely on His direction, not man-made ideas because we know that "knowledge puffs up" (1 Cor. 8:1) but that He builds up.

Next, to dwell in the Lord's house ALL the days of my life. I can't think of a more desirable destination than to be dwelling in the Lords house. To be close enough to hear His call, close enough to constantly commune with. I want our house to be that sort of home. I want our schooling to be an experience of this constant dwelling with Him.
Then, to gaze upon His beauty. To be in awe of how good and lovely He is--and to see that even in the ugliest places of life. As we observe the world, we notice that everything around us is decaying, and we are helpless to stop it, yet God is still beautiful...This is still HIS world. I want to constantly see Him for who He is and for my kids to learn to do the same.
Lastly to inquire in His temple. Oh, to be a called seeker of the Lord! Personally, I sometimes get so content with my relationship with God, I stop looking for Him at every turn and instead am satisfied to just "run into Him" here and there. I am learning to discipline myself to always be seeking Him!
In homeschooling, we will strive to always inquire. Learn to ask questions, research for answers, draw conclusions from our finding, etc. I want to develope in my children a love for inquiring about God's world and all He is and has made!
