My boys, their friend Eli, and I, all took a trip to visit our local fire station!
It was a great day!
Arriving...
The Field Trippers...
The most exciting part of the trip...
We were only at the fire station about 20 minutes when the alarm sounded and the firemen rushed off to a call...
Once they were back, we started the tour with learning about the equipment...
Listening carefully...
Learning not to be scared of the "man in the mask"...
Trying it out!
This hat was HEAVY!
Seeing their bedrooms...
(I always thought they had one big dorm style room with bunks, but they each have individual rooms!)
Learning about the trucks and the equipment they carry...
Driving...
Taking charge...
This is the truck we always see zooming down our street...
Watching the fireman slide down the pole...
We learned a lot! And had a great time! I think were all inspired!
They may not all be future firemen, but they are all future heros to someone!

Thanks Chanute Firemen, for all you do (our for our cool new hats and badges!!)

Very, very cute post! Thanks for sharing! You made me smile!
Love you,
Cheri
Aren't they adorable?!!! I love their sweet faces as they listened intently! Great photos! My boys would have loved to be there!
I always thought they slept in one big "group" room as well! You make me want to go visit our local fire station and check out their rooms!!
Awwww, my husband would be proud ~ he's a firefighter ;) At his station, they used to all sleep in one room together, but with so many women joining the department in recent years, they've remodeled, and now all have individual rooms. That's the way it is here, anyway.
Looks like a great field trip!!
My children don't even know how blessed they are. They have their firefighter daddy explaining all this to them their whole lives. They love it when he takes them up high in the ladder truck. I hate it! It makes me nervous to see them 100 feet in the air!
Looks like you had a good informational, hands-on trip!
And yes, their equipment is incredibly heavy. It gives me a whole new respect for them!
What a great field trip that was! The kids all look soooooo interested in what the firemen were saying. And cute in their nifty hats! :D
I, too, thought it was a big dorm-style room they slept in. Ahhhh, privacy is good no matter what work you do.
